Barclays Wealth has been quick to distance itself from the decision of sister company Barclays Capital to cut 400 jobs in its back office - and with good reason.

A spokesman for the wealth division this morning said of the layoffs: "This doesn't affect wealth at all, nor does it affect the shared services operations hub created in Glasgow between Barclays Capital and Barclays Wealth."
