Welcome to the madhouse

Registered UK charity Take Our Daughters to Work last week launched its drive to get financiers to bring their daughters into the office. The cause is a worthy one, aimed at inspiring young women to pursue a career in the still-not-entirely-gender-balanced finance industry.

The charity is pushing for bankers to take girls aged between 10 and 15 into the office on April 25. But they might think twice after reading the results of a psychology study released last week. It revealed that clinical depression is three times higher among male stockbrokers between 22 and 32 than the rest of the male population. More worryingly, the report also details excessive spending and drug abuse among many brokers.
