When, after nearly two decades in top Wall Street and City roles, Fiona Gallagher moved back to Dublin to lead Deutsche Bank’s Irish operation, she had an idea of how it would pan out.

She assumed that a lack of local job options would mean she stayed there for the “balance of her career”.
