Jane Wheeler, a former senior Morgan Stanley banker who left the firm last month for US advisory boutique Evercore Partners, has landed one of her first big deals since joining. She is advising ETrade Financial on buying rival US online broker Harrisdirect for $700m (€566m).

Wheeler, a senior managing director at Evercore, spent more than 12 years at Morgan Stanley, leading the firm's securities industry and financial technology investment banking business.
