Why the Australians are feeling positive about the new AMP

Letter from Sydney

It is not often that a senior executive resigns from a firm only to be re-employed by the same organisation a month or so later, but that is what happened to former AMP chief financial officer, Marc de Cure. For that he is probably thanking his new benefactor and boss, Andrew Mohl.

Mohl is AMP's new chief executive, formerly chief operating officer. Revelations of inadequacies at AMP's British unit Pearl Assurance last month forced the resignation of Paul Batchelor as chief executive and Mohl's elevation to the top job.
