The former co-head of global investment banking at Nomura, William Vereker, is to join UBS as head of corporate client solutions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Vereker, who stepped down from his role at Nomura to become vice-chairman in September, has long been expected to take up a senior role at a rival and his likely destination has been a constant topic of speculation.
