WisdomTree creates European compliance chief role

WisdomTree, the $39 billion exchange-traded fund provider, has created a new role running compliance in Europe and hired a former Aberdeen Asset Management consultant to fill it.

Altaf Cassam, previously a consultant to Aberdeen on the EU's revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, will be based in London, according to a January 9 statement from WisdomTree. He will report to Bryan Governey, the firm’s general counsel in Europe.
