Yes, Christmas songs really are arriving earlier every year (and there’s a stock trade for that)

All I Want for Christmas Is You is the most popular Christmas song, followed by Wham!'s Last Christmas

Christmas festivities are beginning earlier than usual — and this is good news for listed funds that hold interests in popular songs during the holiday season, JPMorgan analysts have found.

In an unusually festive 7 December research note, Christopher Brown and Adam Kelly found that Christmas songs have been taking a bigger percentage of the Global Spotify Top 200 — the most-streamed songs on the popular music subscription service. Average streams of Christmas songs were up 129% in November, compared with November 2019, while streams for the first week of December were up 26% compared with the same week a year ago.
