Karen Young, former chief executive of ICV, the real-time data division of Thomson Financial, has joined Caplin Systems, an internet technology development company, as European sales and marketing director.

Young's appointment comes following increased demand for Caplin's main technology, Real Time Trading Protocol (RTTP), across major markets worldwide. RTTP allows the internet to be used as effectively as a dedicated line and is set to be one of the most widely-adopted technologies available for trading electronically. The International Petroleum Exchange, New York Stock Exchange, UBS Warburg and Nasdaq are already using the technology.
