Zurich UK reports 9.8% ethnicity pay gap and widening bonus pay gap

Pressure is mounting on companies to address the lack of racial diversity within their ranks amid worldwide #BlackLivesMatter protests over police brutality against Black people

Insurer Zurich UK has published its ethnic pay gap – making it the only insurance firm to do so in the UK – and reported a 9.8% gap for mean hourly pay for 2020, a slight improvement from 2019’s 11.8%.

However, its bonus pay gap of 24.5% has widened by 7.8 percentage points in the same period. The figures are for the firm's UK office, which has around 4,500 employees, of which 255 consider themselves ethnic minorities.
